1. Dude, isn’t this the first year of a decade? 2000-2009, 2010-2019, etc.

   And don’t give me that there was no Year 0 nonsense. :-)

2. Don’t poke the bear. But the secret to agreement is to drop definite articles. You can think ‘a’ and I can think ‘the’ and all is OK.
