Are you identifying with him these days?
The more flawed he turns out to be, the less egotistical such an identification might be. We did both haunt UVa.
(But, so did Tina Fey.) The Raven may be the best poem ever written — certainly my favorite. (Does it contain a code or an insult to the
reader?) I’m no Poe by any stretch.
I do have a poem in mind that involves camping with Poe and O’Keeffe. Black birds perched on
