A Republican victory makes Obama the underdog, raises his popularity, and increases the odds that the Dem will win in 2016. (Gotta go throw up now.) <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>As of Tuesday afternoon, Nate Silver\u2019s FiveThirtyEight, which turned the academic discipline of computer models into a media game, gives Republicans <a href=\"http:\/\/fivethirtyeight.com\/interactives\/senate-forecast\/\">a 57.6 percent chance<\/a> of taking the Senate. (Decimal points are particularly compelling.) The New York Times\u2019s model goes with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/newsgraphics\/2014\/senate-model\/\">61 percent<\/a>, DailyKos <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/election-outlook\/2014-senate\">66 percent<\/a>, Huffington Post <a href=\"http:\/\/elections.huffingtonpost.com\/2014\/senate-outlook\">54 percent<\/a> and PredictWise <a href=\"http:\/\/www.predictwise.com\/node\/2357\">73 percent<\/a>. The Princeton Election Consortium gives a <a href=\"http:\/\/election.princeton.edu\/todays-senate-seat-count-histogram\/\">54 percent advantage<\/a> to <i>Democrats<\/i> .
