My belief is that they\u2019ll destroy it all for the profit of someone who lives elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/407545\/news\/water-issue-dominates-hearing-on-development.html\">Water issue dominates hearing on development | Albuquerque Journal News<\/a> <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>By <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/author\/dmckay\">Dan McKay \/ Journal Staff Writer<\/a><br \/>PUBLISHED: Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 12:05 am  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/407545\/news\/water-issue-dominates-hearing-on-development.html\/attachment\/santolina#main\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right; display: inline\" alt=\"Santolina\" src=\"http:\/\/main.abqjournal.netdna-cdn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Santolina-357x400.jpg\" width=\"357\" align=\"right\" height=\"400\"\/><\/a>Bernalillo County\u2019s planning commissioners asked the same question over and over on Wednesday as they debated a proposed master plan for an <strong>enormous development on the far West Side<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>Where\u2019s the water going to come from? <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the applicant can\u2019t address the water situation, we\u2019re wasting our time,\u201d planning commissioner Lenton Malry said at one point. <\/p>\n<p>At another, commissioner Joe Chavez, who presided over the hearing, put it this way: \u201cWe want to know where this water is going to come from. \u2026 I don\u2019t think this commission is just going to vote on a blind thing that says, \u2018We\u2019re going to get it.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The questions centered on the proposed Santolina Master Plan, which would cover <strong>13,700 acres<\/strong> southwest of Interstate 40 and 118th Street. It\u2019s the largest master plan ever considered by the county, planners said. <\/p>\n<p><strong>More than 90,000 people might live there 50 years from now<\/strong>, under the property owners\u2019 vision\u2026. <\/p>\n<p>About 40 people attended Wednesday\u2019s hearing.
