{"id":682,"date":"2005-04-30T19:22:40","date_gmt":"2005-05-01T02:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edgewiseblog.com\/wp2\/uncategorized\/good-stewards\/"},"modified":"2005-04-30T19:22:40","modified_gmt":"2005-05-01T02:22:40","slug":"good-stewards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edgewiseblog.com\/mjh\/loco\/good-stewards\/","title":{"rendered":"Good Stewards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Dumped Cattle Carcasses Increase in Curry\" href=\"http:\/\/abqjournal.com\/paperboy\/text\/news\/state\/344517nm04-30-05.htm\">ABQjournal: Dumped Cattle Carcasses Increase in Curry<\/a><\/p>\n<p>CLOVIS &#8212; The Curry County sheriff says the area is seeing <b>an increasing number of cattle carcasses dumped<\/b> on the rights of way of roads and highways.<\/p>\n<p>    &#8220;It&#8217;s mostly Holsteins and it&#8217;s mostly calves,&#8221; said Sheriff Roger Hatcher.<\/p>\n<p>    He predicts <b>the problem will get worse<\/b> with the growing dairy and cattle industry.<\/p>\n<p>    New Mexico law requires livestock owners to dispose of dead animals by burning, burying or contracting with a removal service. &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Hatcher said the problem isn&#8217;t fuel prices? <b>it&#8217;s a blatant disregard for the law<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>    Identifying marks, such as ear tags, are often missing from the dumped carcasses, he said.<\/p>\n<p>    &#8220;People are doing this at night. <b>They know it is wrong<\/b>,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ranchers can&#8217;t be doing this!
