We have said that government regulation <font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\">may not target the general gratitude a candidate may feel toward those who support him or his allies<\/font>, or the political access such support may afford.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>Roberts also wrote, \u201cMoney in politics may at times seem repugnant to some, but so too does much of what the First Amendment vigorously protects.\u201d \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Campaign finance restrictions should be seen as a means to strengthen the First Amendment, rather than weaken it, the [Justice Breyer] wrote. <font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\">\u201cWhere enough money calls the tune, the general public will not be heard,\u201d<\/font> he said. <\/p>\n<p>Breyer also said: <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaken together with Citizens United \u2026 today\u2019s decision <strong>eviscerates<\/strong> our Nation\u2019s campaign finance laws, leaving a remnant incapable of dealing with the <font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\">grave problems of democratic legitimacy<\/font> that those laws were intended to resolve.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/379004\/news\/supreme-court-political-influence-isnt-corruption.html\">Supreme Court says political influence isn\u2019t corruption | Albuquerque Journal News<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m sure they\u2019ll be rewarded.
