It\u2019s a false narrative that encourages the Republican Party to take the wrong lessons from this election, no matter the outcome. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re trying to wrap this up before the debates even start because I think they\u2019re worried about the debates,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rushlimbaugh.com\/daily\/2012\/09\/26\/don_t_let_bogus_polls_depress_you\">radio host Rush Limbaugh<\/a> told his audience. \u201cI think they\u2019re trying to get this election finished and in the can by <em>suppressing your vote<\/em> and depressing you so that you just don\u2019t think there\u2019s any reason to vote, that it\u2019s hopeless. They want you making other plans.\u201d \u2026<\/p>\n<p>If a polling sample shows Democrats outnumbering Republicans by, say, 32 percent to 24 percent (with most of the rest calling themselves independents), GOP partisans shouldn\u2019t worry about a conspiracy. They should worry that this is a snapshot of how Americans feel about the two major parties.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the polls, it\u2019s the policies.
