Scott Walker (R-WI), [U.S. Chamber of Commerce president Tom Donohue] said that public servants have \u201cover bloated\u201d compensation: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Donohue turned truculent when asked whether events in Wisconsin are weakening unions and the right of workers to collective bargaining. [&#8230;.] <strong>He went on to express his concerns that public sector pensions are \u201cout of control\u201d and that public workers compensation is \u201cover bloated.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\">Speaking of \u201cover bloated\u201d compensation, Donohue \u201ctravels in a chauffeured Lincoln and a leased jet, and his salary, <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonmonthly.com\/features\/2010\/1007.verini.html\"><font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\">$3.7 million<\/font><\/a><font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\"> last year, makes him the sixth highest paid lobbyist in the country.\u201d <\/font><\/p>\n<p>Donohue apparently has no problem taking cheap shots at people who have dedicated themselves to public service, but what does he do to deserve so much money? As we\u2019ve reported, <font style=\"background-color: #ffc000\">Donohue runs nothing more than a shell organization<\/font> to help big corporations pursue nasty lobbying campaigns under the brand of the \u201cU.S. Chamber of Commerce,\u201d a group misleadingly associated with local chambers of commerce. For instance, the health insurance industry secretly funneled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/11\/17\/AR2010111706325.html\">$86 million<\/a> to the Chamber in 2009 to try to kill health reform.
