Never mind the $700 billion price tag for extending the high-end tax breaks: virtually all Republicans and some Democrats are rushing to the aid of the oppressed affluent. <\/p>\n<p>You see, the rich are different from you and me: they have more influence. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>And when the tax fight is over, one way or another, you can be sure that the people currently defending the incomes of the elite will go back to demanding cuts in Social Security and aid to the unemployed. America must make hard choices, they\u2019ll say; we all have to be willing to make sacrifices. <\/p>\n<p><font style=\"background-color: #a5b592\">But when they say \u201cwe,\u201d they mean \u201cyou.\u201d Sacrifice is for the little people. <\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/09\/20\/opinion\/20krugman.html?_r=2&amp;partner=rssnyt&amp;emc=rss\">Op-Ed Columnist &#8211; The Angry Rich and Taxes &#8211; NYTimes.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/videocafe.crooksandliars.com\/heather\/president-obama-hedge-fund-manager-asking-\">President Obama to Hedge Fund Manager: Taxing You More Like Your Secretary is Not Anti-Business | Video Cafe<\/a> <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>After showing a quote from Newsweek where Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman had the nerve to say this: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&quot;It&#8217;s a war,&quot; Schwarzman said on the struggle with the administration over increasing taxes on private-equity firms. &quot;It&#8217;s like when Hitler invaded Poland in 1939.&quot;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Obama responded. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Well I don&#8217;t know where that comes from. That&#8217;s my point&#8230; I guess.
