At a town hall last week, Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) continued his campaign to inject<\/a> over the top<\/a>, paranoid<\/a> rhetoric<\/a> into America\u2019s political discourse. \u201cI\u2019m chairman of the Second Amendment Task Force fighting for Second Amendment rights. Those gun rights are actually critical to prevent treason<\/em> in America,\u201d said Broun, [mjh: How, by shooting guys like Broun?] <\/em>according to Athens Banner-Herald reporter Blake Aued<\/a>, who provided a transcript of Broun\u2019s remarks to TPM<\/a>. Broun then said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one of the \u201cdomestic enemies of the Constitution<\/a>\u201d that he says he swore to defend against:<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve gotten to be good friends with Justice Antonin Scalia, who he and Justice Clarence Thomas are the only ones who have any concept of what the Constitution is supposed to be and, and do what they\u2019re supposed to do as justices by upholding the Constitution. But, in fact every, when I was sworn into the Marine Corp, I was sworn to uphold the Constitution against every enemy, foreign and domestic. We\u2019ve got a lot of domestic enemies of the Constitution (applause) and one of those sits in the speaker\u2019s chair of the United States Congress, Nancy Pelosi.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Previously, Broun has said that President Obama wants to go \u201cdown the road<\/a>\u201d of Hitler and has the pieces in place to \u201cestablish an authoritarian government<\/a>.\u201d He has also said that Obama, Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) are part of a \u201csocialist elite<\/a>\u201d that wants to declare martial law in America. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
