Throughout the<br \/>\npast eight years, and as recently as last December, McCain has<br \/>\nacknowledged on a number of occasions that he knows very little about<br \/>\nthe economy: <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2013 Seeking to explain his shift to the left on economic issues, McCain claimed: \u201c<strong>I didn\u2019t pay nearly the attention to those issues in the past.<\/strong> I was probably a \u2019supply-sider\u2019 based on the fact that I really didn\u2019t jump into the issue.\u201d [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.freerepublic.com\/forum\/a3888c6e24248.htm\">Jan. 2000<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 \u201cI\u2019m going to be honest: <strong>I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues.
