{"id":1699,"date":"2006-03-14T14:00:10","date_gmt":"2006-03-14T21:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.edgewiseblog.com\/mjh\/nada\/dump-duhbya\/safety-does-not-erode\/"},"modified":"2010-09-12T11:19:35","modified_gmt":"2010-09-12T17:19:35","slug":"safety-does-not-erode","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edgewiseblog.com\/mjh\/nada\/dump-duhbya\/safety-does-not-erode\/","title":{"rendered":"Safety does not erode"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/441476nm03-13-06.htm\">ABQjournal: Bomb Designer Questions U.S. Nuclear Policy<\/a>By John Fleck, Journal Staff Writer<\/p>\n<p>    The history of U.S. nuclear weapons policy looks to Richard Garwin like an alcoholic for whom the answer to any problem is another drink: &#8220;More nuclear weapons, please.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>    To Garwin, the latest effort to design a new generation of nukes\u2014 the &#8220;Reliable Replacement Warhead&#8221;\u2014 has the appearance of another binge coming on.<\/p>\n<p>    <span class=\"highlight\">The Reliable Replacement Warhead<\/span>, Garwin told a packed audience Friday at the University of New Mexico, <span class=\"highlight\">&#8220;is not necessary.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>    This is no peacenik talking.
