The Bush administration doesn’t want dissenters to be seen or heard.
By James Bovard, The American Conservative magazine

When President Bush travels around the United States, the Secret Service visits the location ahead of time and orders local police to set up ”free speech zones” or ”protest zones” where people opposed to Bush policies (and sometimes sign-carrying supporters) are quarantined. These zones routinely succeed in keeping protesters out of presidential sight and outside the view of media covering the event.

You probably thought the whole country is a free-speech zone. As Bush talks about how freedom in the Middle East will end ”terror”, he has done more than anyone since Nixon, even Joe McCarthy, to curtail freedom in our own country. mjh

Though you didn’t see it on the news and read almost nothing about it in print, there were protesters in Roswell confronting George Bush. We were there. [read more…]

  1. I find the loss of freedoms since George W Bush has taken office outrageous. The United

States of America has prided itself on the fact that you have the right to be heard. This is no longer the case in this country. If you

oppose anything the Bush administration states then you are unpatriotic. That is the most unpatriotic statement that could ever be

uttered. It is our right to protest what we believe is wrong. Many a human being has died because of stating their beliefs. To think

that we have lost this utmost important fredom because of one administration is the greatest loss this country will ever know. I don’t

understand how anyone can support this kind of oppression. This is THE USA…..WE HAVE RIGHTS…..WE NEED TO FIGHT TO KEEP OUR RIGHTS

    AND FREEDOMS.
